Volunteer Thursday

Yes, I am aware that it is now Friday, but yesterday was Thursday and I had an all out volunteer kind of day. I am a huge advocate of volunteering, and have done all forms of it over the years. To me it's a really great way to get involved in the community in which you live, and to just be helpful where its' most needed.

Currently, I spend three hours every Thursday volunteering in the emergency room at one of the hospitals in Boston. I move patients from their beds in the ER to xray, mri, or ct and back. I love it. It may not sound like the most exciting job ever, but I meet the most interesting people. Plus, I get to wear a sexy salmon colored jacket.

You know you're jealous.

After work yesterday, I also had to go to a meeting for the event committee I'm on. The past two years I've gone to the Fenway Community Health Men's Event. It's a fantastic black-tie affair that raises money for an amazing health center. This year I decided to help out with the planning of the event and have volunteered my time on the committee. It has been so much fun. The event is April 9th (no, I don't have a dress yet! yikes!), but we've got a lot of outreach events coming up...like one in two weeks sponsored by Absolute Vodka and their male models...I love my life. After all my work as a good citizen yesterday, I was exhausted by the time I got home last night. I'm hoping for a fun adventure at a make-your-own-noodle bowl place tonight, but for now, I'll leave you with this gem of a photo from last year's Men's Event.
